Did you know that not all bathrooms are waterproof?
Premium Products To Waterproof Your Bathroom
When you renovate a shower, you have to waterproof the entire area underneath all of the tile first. Not all contractors do this.
Many bathrooms rot and fall apart sooner than they should because of poor material choice or poor workmanship.
At I Am Home Inc. we use premium materials and time tested trades that we work with on every project.
- We use a rubber liner that goes up the walls at least 6 inches and over your curb to ensure that if somehow water did get through the tile, then the through the waterproofing layer then through the concrete board, it would then hit the rubber liner and drain back toward your drain.
- We use hardiboard (cement board) instead of Durock as we have found while doing demo on many bathrooms that after about 10 years, durock falls apart like kitty litter inside the wall.
- We seal all seams and screw holes with an antimicrobial caulk to help prevent mold
- We use hydroban (which is an antimicrobial waterproofing membrane that helps prevent mold) – Most contractors use Red-Gard which is a 3 coat process and is not antimicrobial
These steps ensure that your shower or bath is 100% waterproof and moisture-proof for years to come!
